Engravings of Fonthill

Jon Millington

Most of the engravings here come from books or periodicals, which are listed chronologically. These views are given in the order in which they appeared in the work, except where it seemed more convenient to group some together, such as woodcut vignettes. At the end are views of Fonthill published as free-standing prints, followed by plans from catalogues of later sales of the Fonthill Estate.
For each entry, the wording before the dimensions is as it appears on the print, apart from anything in square brackets. Unless otherwise stated, the views are line engravings on copper or steel, and those of the Abbey are views from the south west.
Measurements are of the image, excluding any border, and are in millimetres (height before width). Different copies of the same print may vary slightly in size.
